Today we decided to head out to the beach. We drove down to Winthrop and picked up UB and headed up to Seabrook Beach somewhere in New Hampshire . . . Candace did all the navigating. My primary reason for going to the beach was to actually swim. The water temperatures are usually a bit warmer on the East Coast in the summer ~ apparently I'm completely wrong about this. Cole and Jacquelyn always make fun of me for not going in the water at the beach in California. I don't know how I was named Coral because I'm so not the go in the water kind of girl. I probably should have been named after a tree rather than an ocean dweller. But here I am ready to redeem my reputation of being a poor beach participant. I put my bathing suit on and fully plan to be in the water all day long. I thought that since they've only had a few days of sunshine here on the East Coast this summer that the beach would be full of equally non-tanned bodies . . . well I was wrong there too. I stuck out as the only one who desperately needed a tan.
The water at Seabrook beach is so cold that I felt I was actually standing in icewater! I tried to be a complete beach and ocean girl today but I was very unsuccessful. I ran straight into the water and could barely breathe out because I kept breathing in so hard. I stayed in the ocean for roughly 4 minutes just enough time to have a few waves take me down and realize that today was not going to be the day I redeem myself. My intention was to have Cole and Jacquelyn stop giving me a hard time about the beach but instead I just gave them more to laugh at. They'll never forget this one I'm afraid . . . and please don't ask Jacquelyn to imitate me running in and then out of the water, because you may hurt yourself laughing.
