Maybe we won't make it to the East Coast this year . . . can't seem to get out of Arizona. We spent the afternoon at Walnut Canyon National Park.
Walnut Canyon is a National Park that has preserved a series of single-story cliff dwellings built high on a canyon wall. The dwellings were built and occupied by the Sinagua peoples in around 1200 AD. You walk down around 200 steps and around a 1-mile round trip loop. The trail takes you along the cliff where the dwellings are to get an up close view. That’s what Wikipedia says! What I say is after spending the morning hiking on very unstable rocks and trying not to lose my balance in the dark cold cave . . . going on a 1 mile hike to Walnut Canyon and up those 200 steps was a workout! I’m tired and going to bed!
